Your booking has been confirmed by our team and the D-day has arrived. It’s your first photo shoot and you don’t know how to approach the session, how to behave in front of the lens!

Good preparation will enable you to meet this challenge and make the shoot a success. The question most people ask themselves on their first photo shoot alone is how to behave in front of the lens.

Read on for our tips on how to be ready and shine at your first photo shoot.

Relax before your photo shoot.

The most important thing your photographer will tell you before the shoot is to relax. Take the time to breathe deeply and relax all the muscles in your body and face, so that you can reflect a beautiful image in your shots.

Don’t tense up, try to get comfortable, get used to the lens and, above all, talk to your photographer. Your professional photographer will be there to guide you in achieving the right poses, while making sure your photos look as natural as possible. But if you have any ideas in mind, don’t hesitate to talk to him!

You can also look at examples of shoots, notably in fashion magazines, Pinterest, Instagram or Google image. You’re sure to find inspiration there to familiarize yourself with certain poses.

However, the thing to do is not to think about it too much. Because it’s never going to happen the way you imagined it, so you might as well not anticipate it too much and live in the moment when the D-day arrives!

Concentrate on the positive things that are happening during your photo shoot: you’ll enjoy a pleasant and fun time with your photographer. You’ll have a great experience and feel great in your clothes. You’ll be able to take time out just for yourself, or with your loved ones for a family or romantic photo shoot.

Think of all the positive things that will make you feel confident during this photo shoot! You’ll be able to take full advantage of this new experience and leave with lots of beautiful memories!

Prepare your photo shoot in advance!

To prepare for your photo shoot, it’s essential to think about make-up, hairstyles, clothes, poses, etc. in advance.

Several days before your photo shoot, don’t hesitate to work on your photogenic skills in front of a mirror. Moving around will help you gain self-confidence and learn the poses to adopt during your photo shoot.

As far as outfits are concerned, they should be consistent with the message you want to get across, while making you feel good in your sneakers. Take several outfits that will be easy to change outdoors, so that you can vary the styles in the photos: classic, trendy, casual, sporty, relaxed…

For example, a shirt for a more professional and serious look, or a nice casual jacket for more chill and personal photos.

Don’t neglect accessories, which add real value to photos: jewelry, glasses, hats, handbags, etc.

For hair, you can use sprays or mousse to add a little shimmer and volume. However, if you need to touch up your hair or beard, don’t hesitate to call in a specialist.

When it comes to make-up, be careful not to be too heavy-handed: an overly made-up complexion won’t look good in photos – quite the opposite, in fact. Keep it simple. In photographs, faces often appear more uniform. Opt for something more natural, more « nude ».

Our photographers know what they’re doing, so you need to trust them, let them guide you and listen to their advice.

Of course, you’ll need to arrive with your face rested and in good shape. So a good night’s sleep is preferable. This will show up in the results of your shots!

And don’t forget to drink plenty of water. Good hydration is essential, and your face will come out all the brighter and reflect all the more light.

But above all, don’t forget to indulge yourself – you’ll see how quickly it goes!
